West End is an inner southern suburb located in the city of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. The suburb is bounded by Brisbane River in the south and west.

The south-western part of the suburb along the Brisbane River is called the Hill End. West End is adjacent to the South Brisbane suburbs and Highgate Hill. These three suburbs make a peninsula of Brisbane River.

The 2011 census reported the population of the suburb as 8,061 residents, of that 50% were female and 50% were male. 52.4% were household families, 34.6% were single-person households, and 13.1 % were group households. The average age of the population was 35 years which is 2 years less than the Australian median.

TRANSPORT

West End is serviced by ferries and buses. Bus services are available on Route 199 BUS to New-Farm-City-West End Ferry, operating every five minutes during peak times, Route 192 the University of Queensland to city, Route 198 Highgate Hill Hail & Ride and a City Glider service along Montague road. City Cat service operates from the West End ferry wharf in Orleigh Street. Electronically secured BCC bicycle sheds are also available near the terminal.

West End Primary School is located in the corner of Vulture Street and Hardgrave Road. The school includes teaching grades preparatory to six. The school was established in 1875. The nearest secondary schools are Brisbane Grammar School and Brisbane State High School.
